IPTV Keeps Buffering? 8 Fixes to Try, in Order
β‘ Quick Answer
Work through these fixes from quickest to most involved. Most buffering is solved by the first three β and none of them cost anything.
Start here
Buffering has three possible causes: your device, your home network or broadband, or the provider. Work through these fixes in order β the early ones are free and solve most problems.
1. Restart everything
Turn off the router and your Firestick or TV for 30 seconds, then turn them back on. This clears a surprising number of problems.
2. Check your speed where the TV is
Run a speed test on a phone next to the TV, not next to the router. You want about 15 Mbps per screen for HD and 25β40 Mbps for 4K.
3. Improve the connection to the TV
Wi-Fi drops off quickly through walls. Use an Ethernet adapter for your Firestick, a mesh system or a powerline adapter. On Wi-Fi, connect to the 5GHz network if the TV is in the same room as the router.
4. Clear the app cache
On a Firestick go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications, choose your IPTV app and select Clear Cache. Do this every few weeks.
5. Free up the device
Older Firesticks have little memory. Uninstall apps you do not use, and consider a Fire TV Stick 4K Max if yours is several years old.
6. Check what else is using the broadband
Game downloads, cloud backups and video calls all compete for bandwidth. Pause them during big matches.
7. Try a VPN if it only buffers at peak times
If streams are fine most of the time but stutter on Saturday afternoons, your broadband provider may be slowing streaming traffic. A VPN can help.
8. Talk to your provider
If you have tried everything above, message our WhatsApp support. We can check your line and move you to a different server. If you are with another provider and nothing helps, compare with our free 6-hour trial on a match day.
Quick diagnosis table
- Buffers on every channel, all the time: your connection or device. Start with fixes 1β5.
- Buffers only on Saturday afternoons: peak-time slowdown from your broadband provider, or the IPTV provider is overloaded. Try fix 7, then compare with a trial elsewhere.
- Only one channel buffers: that channel may have a problem. Tell support.
- Picture is blurry but does not stop: the stream is dropping quality to keep playing β improve the connection to the TV.
Router tips
Put the router in the open, not in a cupboard. Restart it once a week. If your broadband provider supplied an old router, ask for a newer model β many will swap it for free.
